Aberdeen Cyrenians

A team from City Church have been running the Cyrenians’ Day Centre each Sunday lunchtime since January. Week by week we serve about 30 lunches lovingly prepared by our own fair hands. Whilst it’s rarely a walk in the park, we have all found the experience spectacularly rewarding. There have been tears (ours and theirs), tantrums, laughter, wonderfully honest conversations and many grateful faces.

It seems a perfect fit that we leave Gilc Park during the worship, to continue our “worship” over there. We really could do with at least 4-5 more volunteers for a once a month commitment of 2.5 hours.

Speak to Chuck Freeland if you’re interested.

Outreach To The Elderly: Lunch & Chat

City Church is right next to a large block of flats that is primarily home to elderly people. As a church we realised the need to support these people, many of whom live by themselves are lonely. Every Saturday from 12pm we run a group for these residents to come and have lunch and spend time together.

If you'd like to get involved, please speak to Tony Treasure or Chuck Freeland if you're interested in getting involved.

  Street Pastors

Street Pastors is an inter-denominational Church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to care, listen and dialogue. There are teams out on the streets of Aberdeen every Friday night, spending time around the people at the clubs and bars in Union St and Belmont St. See www.streetpastors.org.uk for more info.

  Christmas Hampers

As part of our ministry to the elderly, we give away Christmas hampers to the residents of local flats. The whole church is encouraged to get involved in this project!
